How overlap is measured
Weight overlap is an ETFIQ calculation: for every security both funds hold, the smaller of the two weights, summed. With three or more funds a security counts only when every fund holds it, at the smallest of their weights.
Each weight is the fund's filed share of its net assets, from its issuer's holdings file or its latest SEC filing, as of the date shown. Cash, money market sweeps and other cash-like lines are left out: two funds each holding cash do not hold the same thing.
The tool leaves out 4 funds whose published holdings either list only the largest positions or add up to more than the fund, because an overlap computed from them would be wrong.
