The ETFIQ scores
One score for each kind of fund, answering the one question that kind of fund exists to answer.
Each score is a percentile inside the set of funds it can honestly be compared with, so it is a rank turned into a percentile and no fund reaches 100 or 0: the top of the smallest set here, 24, is 97.9. The figure it is computed from is printed beside it everywhere it appears, and the whole file is published, so anyone can recompute it.
There is no ETFIQ score
Singular, across the categories, there is not one and there will not be one. A buffer fund and an income fund are not two entries on one leaderboard: they are built to do different things and are measured on different questions, and averaging four answers to four questions produces a number that answers none of them. Every score on this site names the category it belongs to and the set it was ranked in.
What a percentile does
A percentile says where a fund sits, not how good it is. It has no weights to argue with, it survives the outliers a linear scale cannot, and it moves when the set moves: a fund can slip two points on a day it did nothing, because two other funds improved. That is why the underlying figure is printed beside every score, and why the score is never the only number on a page.

A score is not a rating and no order on this site is an opinion. ETFIQ is an independent publisher, not an adviser. Standards and sources
