When do ETFs pay dividends?

An ETF distribution has two dates that matter: the ex-date, which decides who receives it, and the pay date, when the cash arrives. 330 income ETFs have one expected in the next 45 days and 210 of them inside the next fortnight, which is what the calendar shows. 1 has been declared by the issuer rather than projected by ETFIQ.

You must own the fund before the ex-date to receive the distribution. On the ex-date the price drops by roughly the amount paid, which is why a distribution is not income in the way interest is: part of it is your own capital moving from the price into your cash.

The gap between ex-date and payment is usually one to three days. Funds declare days ahead rather than months, so most future dates anywhere, including here, are projections from the fund's own past spacing rather than issuer statements. ETFIQ marks which is which and never lets a projection read as a schedule.
