How concentrated are thematic ETFs?

The typical thematic ETF holds 51% of its money in its ten largest positions. At the top of the range a fund is close to a bet on a handful of companies wearing the name of a theme.

Concentration is what a theme fund is for and also its main risk. A theme with few listed pure plays cannot be spread thinly, so the fund holds a lot of the few names that exist, and its return is those names rather than the idea.

Read it beside holdings count. Forty stocks with 60% in the top ten is a different fund from four hundred stocks with 60% in the top ten, and both are covered here.

The ten largest positions of every fund are listed on its own page, with the filing date they came from.
