In plain words

A one-year return is the change in a fund’s price over twelve months to the date shown. It differs a great deal by category, because categories own different things.

Medians: stocks 16.7% across 1,691 funds, themes 9.9% across 329, bonds 1.5%, income 6.4% and commodities 11.0%. A median hides the spread, and funds in one category can differ by tens of points. ETFIQ shows each fund’s return beside its benchmark, with the window.
